In a continuing resolution passed to keep the government from shutting down at midnight on September 30th, Congress has included provisions that extend the low-volume hospital adjustment and Medicare Dependent Hospital program. The two measures that were set to expire on September 30th have now been extended until December 16th, which also corresponds with the length of the continuing resolution. After returning from the mid-term elections in November, the congressional leadership hopes to pass a FY 2023 omnibus funding bill on or before December 16th that contains a multiyear extension of the low-volume hospital adjustment and Medicare Dependent Hospital program.
